We’ve taken a step back in time with the Modern Wild Child PU surfboard, mimicking the traditional fish outline from the 70’s era, and combining this with modern bottom contours and a quad set-up to deliver a very fast, smooth, free flowing ride.

OUTLINE: Fuller nose with a straighter outline through the mid and back section creates stability, and the distinctive deep curved swallow tail helps bite into the face of the wave when the board is on rail. The shorter rail line also contributes to the amazing pivoting capabilities of this model.

CONTOURS: Although contemporary by design, the bottom contours are subtle in nature. Single concave through the entry provides great start-up speed and acceleration, then a soft double concave out the tail injects a lively and responsive feel when turning.

ROCKER: Low and relaxed; and it’s designed this way for two main reasons; speed and flow. This low rocker allows the board to trim exceptionally well and carry effortlessly over flatter sections. And let’s not forget the paddle and wave catching advantages that come with a flatter rocker as well.

FOIL: Features the old-school beak nose, full rail, and a tapered foil that positions the bulk of the volume through the nose and under the chest, but thins out progressively towards the back. This delivers great trim stability up front, yet increases the control component needed on a board like this with a significantly wider tail.

PERFORMANCE: It’s wise to shift back a gear or two before you even paddle out on this one. Best surfed with a neutrally weighted stance in average to fuller waves, and with a more dominant back foot in steeper waves. Really focus on driving off the fins to capitalise the speed and flow this board can achieve. And don’t be fooled either, the Wild Child will pivot in a super tight radius, and carry incredible momentum when it’s time to move your foot right back on the tail and jam a turn.

The Wild Child is designed to be surfed significantly shorter than your standard board, and we recommended using the FCSII Split Keel quad to fully maximise the performance of the is model.
